Druella decided that since she was to be her last child (and she made sure of it!) that she would go against the Black tradition that wasn't her own and name her child as she chose. Having been fond of Greek Mythology, she chose the name Narcissa as a variation of the vain youth Narcissus, not realizing at the time that her choice in names would turn out to be a prediction of her youngest child's later extreme vanity. Her childhood was spent with everyone from her parents down to her tutors and even certain house elves doting on her. Blonde with large blue eyes, skin as pale and smooth as porcelain---a smile that could light up any room-- Narcissa was often called 'an angel without wings'. Things like this do tend to stick in ones head, and with such compliments, an ego does form. She began her years at Hogwarts in September of 1966, was sorted Slytherin and excelled in subjects such as Charms and Herbology. She never cared much for the Dark Arts or learning to defend herself against them, but she did excel in that area as well. Narcissa had many acquaintences in school. Very few girlfriends as she was often surrounded by admiring boys, she never really made a true friend. She always shrugged it off; she had her sisters, and that was more than enough. She finished school, with full OWLS and NEWTS, in 1973. On December 24, 1975, in an extravagant ceremony, she married the only man to ever capture her heart, Lucius Malfoy. They had been promised to one another since her sixth year, but her parents insisted on a long engagement as they were hesitant to give up their baby girl so soon. In June of 1980, Narcissa gave birth to hers and Lucius' only child, a son, Draco. He was the light of her life, and she spoiled him as she herself had been spoiled as a child. Extras: Appearance: Narcissa stands at a statuesque 5'10, she is slender yet curvy in all the right places. Long, wavy, strawberry blond hair falls loose framing a flawless porcelainesque heart shaped face. Her lips are full, and even without the benefit of cosmetics are as pink as a newly bloomed blushing rose. Her mayan blue eyes are fringed with heavy black lashes, and a perky, upturned nose and elegantly arched slightly darker than blonde eyebrows complete this picture of perfection. Personality: Outwardly, Narcissa appears to be the most delicate of flowers. She is soft spoken, graceful, demure, a most welcoming (and oft times humbling) presence-- a perfectly bred Pure Blood lady in every way. However, she does have a bit of a dark side. Bossy, a bit controlling, a wicked temper to rival even that of her sister Bellatrix (you don't want to cross Cissy on a bad day) and quite skilled in the art of manipulation. She has an infinite amount of patience, and is always willing to wait, as long as she gets her way. (and she's a wee bit on the over dramatic side, but in such an adorable way!) Her sense of humor is a bit lacking, but her imagination is great. The situations she finds funny are usually funny to her because she can imagine herself there, or she can add something completely silly to it in her mind. She writes poetry. It's bad, and she knows it's bad, but it's a release for her, something to occupy her mind while she's stuck at home and her Lucius is away--doing Lucius things. She also loves to read (fill her mind with cheesy romance!) anything. She loves hard. Once you earn her love it's hard to lose it, and even harder to get it back (Luci was a LUCKY man). She's passionate about things she loves, and would do anything to protect them, even if it means going against a Dark Lord (and she has!). She's a shopper and an impulse buyer. She adores taking a weekend holiday in Paris spending Lucius' money by the bucket-full. Most of the things she buys she never wears, or uses only once before it goes to the back of the closet, but don't touch her things, she knows exactly what's there and wants to keep it regardless. I guess that makes her a bit greedy/selfish too? Likes: Lucius, Draco, her sisters, her father (those are really more of a love),Beautiful things, soft things, sparkly things, Spring and Fall, the color blue, neatness, organization, lemonade, yellow flowers, her lips, chocolate eclairs, herself, muggle music (she enjoys most of it, though in her later years she could never quite understand the appeal of death metal or rap...she prefers artists like Eric Clapton and Leonard Cohen), compliments, her eyes, affection, silk, satin, lace, (leather and chains if she's in the mood) kisses, rain, snow, moonlight, her hair, overcast days, candles, when the right person plays with her hair (there is a right way to do this you know), her eyebrows, rambling and listening to others ramble. Dislikes: Disorganization, the heat, the dark, being sticky, carbonated or fizzy drinks, strawberries, sand, dark arts, the smell of meat cooking, fish, shellfish, when people who aren't related to her call her Cissa or Cissy, hyperactivity, scratchy blankets, dirty faces, unnecessary tears, birds, riding on a broom  I am not, nor do I own Narcissa Malfoy or any part of the Harry Potter universe. Nicole Kidman belongs to that guy she's married to I guess. This journal is just for fun and I am not turning any profit (which sucks because it's all consuming).
